I. Technology Services Coordinator I
II. Definition
Under general direction, acts as a user liaison and troubleshooter to insure the satisfactory delivery of use request for services; assists in training District personnel on the computer system and on-line applications; does related work consistent with the job description.
III. Examples of Duties
• Serve as a District resource person for the option and methods available in obtaining data
from the system.
• Field questions and assists in planning course of action for user problems, including basic
user identification and system access.
• Assist in resolving problems via telephone or on-site trouble shooting related to the use of
on-line systems and their applications.
• Troubleshoot hardware and network related problems before having to escalate to another
level.
• Assist in training District personnel on computer systems and on-line applications.
• Assist in maintaining and updating user profiles such as user security structure changes.
• Demonstrate knowledge of district software applications.
• Use on-line forms for logging calls.
• Install basic system and related District software.
• Insure timely and proper interpretation, execution and output distribution for each user
request or regularly scheduled production run.
• Process, interprets and logs user requests and determines the action needed.
• Use equipment and applications supported by the department.
IV. Distinguishing Characteristics
• Persons in this position must be familiar with technology procedures.
V. Employment Standards
A. Knowledge of:
• General principals and operations of computer systems, related equipment, and
current technology.
B. Ability to:
• Operate computers and related electronic equipment.
• Compile statistical data and maintain complex records and files.
• Understand and carry out written and oral directions.
• Meet with the public and District personnel tactfully and courteously and establish and
maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
C. Education/Training/Experience:
• Completion of 12th grade or equivalent and successful completion of technology
courses or any combination of education, experience, and training that meets or
exceeds the knowledge, skills or abilities listed above.
• Three years of work experience in a technology environment.
• This position is considered promotional based on the skills achieved.
D. Licenses/Certificates:
Possess a valid California Driver’s License.
VI. Criteria Considered for Advancement to Level II
• Work above the Technology Services Coordinator I duties for a minimum of one year.
• Work as a Technology Services Coordinator I for a minimum of one year or combination of
related experience or training.
• Contribute to creating written documentation and successfully delivers some training in a
group setting. Uses department administration software. Proposes training schedules.
